Your Questions About Spyware Removal Software

Sharon asks…

What is a good antivirus and spyware software for removal?

i am looking for a completely free antivirus and spyware that not only detects but also removes

softwareguru answers:

Microsoft Security Essentials works well with the Windows firewall and does not slow your computer down as much as other things. Also updates regularly.

MSE know all of the Windows processes inside and out. Besides, they build the OS.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a free download from Microsoft.

Download additional anti-spyware software my favourite is Malwarebytes.

Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware works well with MSE, provided that you get the free version, which doesn’t have real-time protection. There’s a chance of bad interactions with MSE if MBAM’s real-time protection is turned on. Install the free version, then update it and run scans occasionally.

Would also recommend that you use a safer browser like Mozilla Firefox.

Install the McAfee SiteAdvisor add-on – when searching for something using yahoo, google or msn, it displays either a green tick (safe site), yellow exclamation mark (use with care) or a red cross (dangerous site) next to every result.

Always keep your Windows, web browser and Java software up to date – frequent patches are released to plug security holes.
