What are the 3 Ways To Perform Adware Spyware Removal On Your PC?

softwareguru answers:

You must have the effort to take care of your PC and not counting it as easy as three steps only!!!!

There are freewares that would do it for you.

1. Avira Antivir Free Antivirus —- the virus/trojan/adware killer

2. Spybot – Search and Destroy —- the spyware/cookie killer and immunizer

Dont forget to make updates for them as frequently as possible

Have these two freewares and you will be protected forever!!!

Maria asks…

Free Antivirus & spyware VS $ Retail $?

Every question I post or read about Kaspersky or Bitdefender I see tons of answers SWEARING that their free protection is just as secure. Is this a fact ( & I’m NOT saying this as an insult) or are people praising it cause its cheap? Don’t get me wrong cheap/free stuff is awesome… but I just want to know what my options are. I am leaning towards Kaspersky, but I don’t know if I am wasting $$$

I have found that freeware security and utility applications, when chosen after careful research and used in tested combinations, can provide protection matching or exceeding that provided by commercial suites. The problem with most of the suites isn’t the antivirus protection, it’s that their firewalls range from middling to lousy. The two best overall suites with good firewalls are the ZoneAlarm suite and Kaspersky suite, (see http://www.matousec.com for results of firewall leaktesting), but there are freeware firewalls that match or exceed their protection. Meanwhile, there are several good antivirus applications that are certified by VB100 and/or ICSA that provide protection at the same level as the commercial programs.

If you need freeware security applications, you can choose from the following:

firewall: (listed in order of preference)
Comodo (http://www.comodo.com ), or
PC Tools (http://www.pctools.com/firewall )
Comodo recently released version 3.0 of its firewall, which adds an intrusion prevention component that’s very effective, though it does take time for it to learn your system, and requires some ongoing attention by the user to make sure programs don’t get improperly blocked. Comodo is one of the strongest firewalls available, freeware or commercial, according to the independent testing site matousec.com.

Antivirus: (listed in order of preference)
Avira (http://www.free-av.com )
AVAST! Home (http://www.avast.com )
AVG (http://free.grisoft.com )
all provide realtime protection and automatic updates; all have ICSA and VB100 certification, but Avira has been among the highest rated in tests by several respected US and UK computer publications.

Antispyware: (listed in order of preference)
Spyware Terminator (http://www.SpywareTerminator.com ) or
Spyware Doctor (http://pack.google.com )
either one will give you good, realtime protection, along with
Ad-Aware Free (http://www.lavasoftusa.com ) and
Spybot S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org ) for additional removal ability.
