William asks…

How do I get rid of Blaster Worm?

Out of nowhere, my computer somehow got the blaster worm (windows 7). Now I can’t open any programs unless I’m in safe mode. I used malwarebytes to scan the system in safe mode (without network) and it couldn’t find the problem (a few scans were done). I can’t use patches because there aren’t any for windows 7. The patches for older systems don’t work. What do I do to get rid of this damn thing!?

softwareguru answers:

I’m pretty sure it’s not the Balster worm but a fake security alert claiming that your computer is infected with this worm. That’s my guess. To remove the Blaster worm please use this tool

To remove fake AV that displays fake security alerts about Blaster worm, please follow this removal guide:

I hope this helps. Please note, it might be named “Privacy Protection”, not “Malware Protection”, I mean the rogue AV. Good luck!

Nancy asks…

How do I get rid of Antivirus soft?

I rebooted in Safe Mode and downloaded MalWare Bytes as advised by many websites. It scanned, found bad files and removed them, and I rebooted again. I still have AntiVirus Soft harassing me! What can I try now?

A related question; does anyone know if I can backup files while this is going on? Just in case…
I have already tried Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware. I am hoping there is another solution, as that did not work for me.
