How to remove Anti Virus Live removal on a dial-up computer?

Everywhere I look it said something about removing this damn program it said something about turning off proxy server in the LAN settings……My girlfriend has dial up so has is this pose to work.

softwareguru answers:

Basically, ALL your internet surfing is being re-directed, because the malware has your pc using a proxy. Unticking the proxy server wil not get rid of the problem, it will allow you to visit security sites , to get progarms to delete it. Read the link fully and carefully

Thomas asks…

How do I delete a program from my computer?

There is this program on my computer I have been trying to delete. When I go to control panel it does not show up on the list. When I go to the C driver under program files and try to delete it that way by puttin it in the recycle bin it wont let me either. Please someone help me.
The program is called personal antivirus.

softwareguru answers:

It may help if you supply us with the name of this pesky program. One scenario may be that it is some type of malware.

EDIT:

Ah ha, Personal Antivirus *is* malware. It is a fake scanner designed to scare users into purchasing it by displaying fake results.

Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware should be able to remove it for you. Follow this removal guide: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-personal-antivirus (MBAM download link included.)

If PAV is preventing MBAM from installing, rename the installation file (‘mbam-setup.exe’) to something else (e.g. ‘heregoes.exe’) and try again.

If installation is successful but MBAM will not run, try renaming the program file (‘mbam.exe’ – which by default installation is located in ‘/Program Files/Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware’) and run it by double-clicking on the new filename (the shortcut will no longer work as the file has changed.)

If you cannot update the database, not to worry, perform a quick scan anyway. Once the initial scan and removal is complete, try updating again and perform another scan.
