Lisa asks…

switchin to mac, anti-virus software?

hey , ditching vista an gettin a mac,

i know there isnt alot of virus’s for mac, but should i get a firewall, spyware, virus, or anything lke that ,

even a light program?

it just almost seems scary to not have the need for security

softwareguru answers:

Honestly, I think antivirus software is a waste of resources.
I don’t even use it while running Windows.

You should be fine as long as you use safe browsing habits and don’t install a bunch of random crap.

Here are a few things you should do:
-Enable Leopard’s built-in firewall:

-It’s always good to have a virus scanner just in case:

-Be careful about what you run as administrator

Joseph asks…

What type of laptop should I get and what anti hacking/ spyware software should I get?

I have an Acer Aspire and am fed up with it. It has a short battery life and constantly breaks down I have had it for almost 4 years. I want a laptop that is fast and has lots if memory. I will be mainly using it to download, edit and play music, watching movies not downloading and playing games that I will download. I am open to any manufacture including Acer which ever manufacturer is best for what I want. I don’t know much about laptops but I’m pretty sure I’m looking for something with 2-4gb of ram and 500gb if memory. Again something fast, that has lots if memory and a battery life longer than 3 hours thank you.

softwareguru answers:

Definitely get a Mac then you won’t really need Anti-virus software.
